Mission, Vision and Values

We support the Mission, Vision and Values of the Cranmer Education Trust.

The Blue Coat School mission is that we are here to serve our young people, to ensure that they become everything they can be and everything they are meant to be. We want our young people to experience a distinctively Christian education. At a personal and human level, we try to discern what is right: what would God want?

The fulfilment of our mission is rooted in our core values of Faith, Vision and Nurture.

Faith

We are proud to be a Church of England school where every person is recognised as being unique and special. Our Christian ethos provides the foundation for a rounded education where we are firm in the belief and trust in God’s promises. We respect each other and we respect all faiths. We act with dignity. We celebrate and embrace diversity and differences.

Vision

We look after each other and we work hard to ensure that our young people have every opportunity to flourish and develop into good friends, good neighbours and good citizens. Our staff model behaviours of high expectations, kindness, personal responsibility and generosity of spirit. We all support and shape our school community as well as our wider community. We recognise that education goes far beyond the classroom and so we encourage our young people to develop talents in all areas of life.

Nurture

All of our young people are children of God, they are each unique and have been created for a special purpose. We treat them all as equals and worthy of respect, and through nurture, we support them to become everything they can be and everything they are meant to be. We provide a safe, happy and nurturing environment that provides a model for our young people, building firm foundations to guide them through school and beyond.

Our commitment to our Mission, Vision and Values as also been demonstrated in our most recent SIAMS report showing how the school embraces and promotes Christian values within the culture of the school. They key points being:

  • The Blue Coat School’s established and theologically rooted Christian vision, nurtures and enriches the daily experiences of all.
  • The school is a shining example of religious and racial tolerance and cohesion.
  • Exceptional formal and informal pastoral care contributes to excellent relationships and support, including for the most vulnerable.
  • [There is]…a strong culture of volunteering that empowers students to continue independently acting as agents of change within society.
  • Thoughtful, thoroughly planned collective worship binds this large community.
  • [An]…inclusive school that respects differences in heritage and religion.
  • Senior students act as role models and contribute to school leadership. They successfully nurture and facilitate opportunities for, and the hopes of, younger students.
